Hi! I’m Beth: a writer by design, a whisky lover by accident.

A photograph of a woman standing in front of a wooden washback at a whisky distillery, holding a glass of whisky.

Here’s how I’ve spent the past decade:

Six years as a journalist for regional newspaper groups in the East of England, covering briefs including local news, business, finance, and education.

Four years as a writer and editor at Paragraph Publishing for publications including Whisky Magazine, Scotch Whisky, Gin Magazine, Rum Magazine, travel retail magazine Travelux, and websites whiskymag.com and thedrinksreport.com. Responsible for overseeing editorial strategy, managing and producing regular print publications and website content, and planning, posting, and occasionally starring in social media content.

In addition to content strategy, production and editing at Paragraph: served as a spirits taster for the publications (whiskies, gin, rum, and agave spirits); presented to crowds of hundreds at the Whisky Magazine Awards and Gin Awards; and manned stands at Whisky Live London serving a global selection of whiskies to enthusiasts.

Now taking on freelance copywriting and editing commissions for whisky and other spirits, with credits in Elite Traveler, The Whiskey Wash, and the Keepers of the Quaich’s magazine The Keeper. Also to be found blogging for Torabhaig Distillery and serving as a spirits judge for the Global Drinks Awards.
